“Are we there yet?!” The incessant demanding phrase of children in the back seat. A cry a child never outgrows only internalizes as an adult.
Long trips may no longer be a problem for most, but the long wait for what is coming next in our journey throughout life leads us to demand answers from God - the author of our lives.
Three weeks ago, James’ fictional journey began. (Click here to see what was included in the first letter as well as what you can expect when you subscribe).
The day that has been months in the process finally came! The first letter was sent out. Letters were folded, envelopes sealed, stamps precisely placed, and addresses carefully typed.
A lot of preparation goes into a trip before it even begins, but the work doesn’t stop there. Centuries of preparation went into the spotless lamb being led to slaughter. However, Christ’s work did not cease. God’s plan was not over. We cannot expect any less.
Enjoying the fruits of your labor in a sinful world requires work to continue. A crop produced one year is not guaranteed next year. Work must continue. The journey must begin again.
In James’ first letter, he experiences this. He sets out to go on the mission field with his friend Mr. Jones, but they have to make a decision on where to go - Mexico or the Pacific Northwest. They rest in a benefactor's house - enjoying the fruits of their labor and learning about God’s provision. Even though their journey has begun, there is still work to be done. The journey is in the process of beginning again.
James’ fictional story is told through monthly letters. While the thread of a story connects them, each letter is a new field waiting to be tilled - a journey beginning again. So no matter when you subscribe, you'll always join James at the beginning of his journey. In order to help, you will receive the previous month letter that you missed along with the current letter whenever you subscribe. (You get two letters for the price of one!)
The first letter has been sent out, but the journey begins every month. It is never too late to join James on his journey! If you have questions, then please don't hesitate to contact us on our contact page.
Sincerely,
Jerri Irene
